Good portions, tasty food, quick service. Had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Sister had the chicken and waffles. Chicken was cooked perfectly and didn't have that "greasy" taste to it.I've been here plenty of times, and I love it! They have amazing breakfast/brunch and good lattes and delicious not overly sweet hot coco. So let me start off with the hot coco, they have soy, almond and regular milk options. I always go with the almond milk, my personal favorite. I have gotten a few different things here, the biscuits and gravy, the polenta and tend to go with the egg breakfast sandwich(I always add avocado). This place is very good, they bake all the bread they use and all of there sweet treats or scones etc are homemade as well. I absolutely love this place. Parking, it's a hit or miss, today is a Monday so there isn't much issue with parking, but most times you have to park in the parking garage. not really a biggie tho. Overall this place is a must. I love when restaurants offer fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice -- so much better than anything packaged and processed. The chef was kind enough to kick us off with a beautiful plate of Belgian waffles and strawberries - literally one of my favorite dishes of all time. Anything with Belgian waffles is a winner for me, especially when they're made to the perfect outside crispiness and inside fluffiness like these were. Next up was an elevated avocado toast, topped with a sunny side up egg, prosciutto, leafy greens, tomato, and pickled red onions. Everything was so delicious, we scarfed down as much as we could. Other highlights included an Apple Salad, fresh guacamole and chips made to order, and shrimp cocktail. Chicken & Waffles was my pick for the entree. I've had my fair share of delicious Chicken & Waffles, and these definitely did not disappoint! The same delicious perfect Belgian waffles we got as a starter were the perfect backdrop to the juicy, crispy, and flavorful fried chicken topped with some amazing maple syrup. It also came with a side of jalapeño butter that was perfect for dipping some bites in! Finally, the chef came out and talked to us about his Vietnamese background and Asian influences in his food. I love hearing what inspires chefs to create the dishes they do, and this time we got to try a twist on the Taiwanese Gua bao (割包) stuffed with an amazingly juicy braised pork belly. I've had a number of mediocre experiences at restaurants in hotels in recent months, but Zinc definitely exceeded my expectations! I had an order to pick up from the photo department which is really just the front of the store. CVS had called and told me it was ready to be picked up. When I asked about it the girl working asked if I was sure I was at the right CVS. I told her I was and we went back and forth about whether or not I was at the right store and I had actually placed an order for a few minutes. After that, she proclaimed she didn't have the order and needed to ...call another person up for assistance. I went through the same song and dance with the next person attempting to help me with her asking if I had the right location and doubting that I actually had an order. She finally decided to look up my order and told me someone had signed for it and it SHOULD be there, but they don't have. She wasn't sure where it is and would have to talk to the employee that signed for it. To make it better that employee was a temporary fill in from a different store. I asked if they could call her because it was a time sensitive order (a Christmas gift) and they said they didn't have her number and would have to wait until tonight. They told me to write my name and phone number on a piece of receipt paper and that was the only help they could offer me. They basically doubted I had an order from the beginning of the interaction and then when they realized THEY lost it they didn't apologize or accept any of the responsibility. Terrible, terrible customer service. I will NEVER go back to this CVS again.
Came in at 10 on a Friday. Waited a good 10 minutes for a server to even greet us. Hubs ordered french toast and I ordered soup - you know, that stuff they make earlier in the day and scoop into a bowl when you order it. He got his meal. And when he was DONE I finally got mine - apparently they lost all of their soup scoopers (note: sarcasm). Good thing we were on a rare date night and in a good mood.WHAT not much to say but Sit down and eat. By far the best Reuben ever (and i am not a reuben kinda guy) The owner Freddy greeted me warmly and ask if take a seat. When we first began to talk about planning for my wedding day, he listened to everything I had to say, and gave me great input on different option for documenting our special day. Jason was exactly where he needed to be the day of the wedding, although you could barely tell he was there because he was so respectful of our space. Believe me, as a jittery bride, this was a huge plus for me. He was extremely professional, b...ut also great to talk to as we started with our video footage after the ceremony. Now to the most important part...the video! Oh the highlight reel...it is absolutely perfect. This was the reason I wanted to hire Jason to begin with. So eventually, after a line formed to the cash register, we asked to be seated and were then told to pay first before sitting down. Huh? Yeah. For picky & conscious eaters - the Health Code Pass for this restaurant was BLUE, not a complete GREEN Pass (google if you don't know what I'm talking about).The staff needs a little more organization as far as seating customers as they come in but it was a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Older, respectable seniors come here after church from what I saw. Diverse groups of people. After you pay for your food, you receive a receipt and can sit where you like. If assistance is needed, friendly waitresses are ready to help. You must take your receipt with you when you go to the Buffet line EACH time you go up. You can go up multiple times. Catering-style Buffet line. They will stamp your receipt each time. The food was amazing! Not salty or bland. Servers are friendly. I tried the collard greens, rice & cabbage, mac n cheese, black-eye peas, catfish, fried chicken and cornbread. Others in my party tried the turkey necks, spaghetti, stuffing, salad and dessert. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend to anyone trying to get some good southern cooking. Kinda small and crowded after 1:30pm.
